ReddiNet's 25 year evolution parallels key events.

For 25 years, ReddiNet has helped save lives—in mass disasters and in everyday first response. From our origins as a visionary voice radio emergency system developed in 1970, to the launch of our computer-based system in 1986, patient care and safety have always been our mission.

6.5 earthquake hits San Fernando Valley rendering hospitals unusable and disrupting communications between emergency responders.   1970s ReddiNet precursor, HEAR radio, a two-way radio system, established for first responder communications on VHF high band simplex frequencies.
Olympic Games in Los Angeles brings millions to the area—under threats of violence 1984 ReddiNet launches the first computer-based microwave medical communications system.
Chernobyl nuclear disaster devastates Ukraine; 7.5 earthquake hits San Salvador. 1986 ReddiNet becomes a registered trademarked product.
Northridge Earthquake causes damage and injuries throughout Southern California Early 1990s ReddiNet’s second generation system released to provide information about hospital specialties, available beds, and other critical information.
Internet development reaches new level. Late 1990s ReddiNet introduces web-based software, called RDMX, to create another communication channel to transmit ReddiNet data.
September 11, 2001, attack on Twin Towers; federal government issues requirements for hospital preparedness. 2001-2002 ReddiNet deployment expands from 6 to 17 counties across California.
Hurricane Katrina ravages New Orleans, displacing thousands. 2005 4th generation ReddiNet, one of the largest upgrades in history, combines microwave and Internet technologies into one system. It’s the only system with that capability in the United States.
Swine Flu emergency sweeps across the country. 2009 Upgrade five enhances ReddiNet’s web-based software using all-new technology.
California wildfires and severe weather cause injuries and displacement.  2010 ReddiNet completed its first satellite-enabled hospital using Spaceway® 3, an award-winning high-speed satellite broadband network from Hughes Network Systems.
Severe weather continues to impact people across the country. 2011 In its 25th anniversary year, ReddiNet begins 2011 with a goal of upgrading 150 hospitals and critical emergency management locations to satellite.
